Altogether 20,000 units are to be acquired from Chery in two years to fulfill the program. Meanwhile, Venezuela still purchased buses and secured relevant manufacturing technology from China to help accomplish the Transportation Mission. Spanish/Nat Traffic chaos and congestion in the Venezuelan capital, Caracas has reached crisis point. The city last researched its transport routes 22 years ago. And since then the capital's traffic has become increasingly dangerous and chaotic as local councils have failed to adopt a uniform set of regulations and signs. But now the authorities are trying to tackle the problem and the Urban Transport Fund has now forwarded new proposals in the hope of finding a workable solution. Day after day the people of Caracas drive on roads plagued by heavy traffic. Traffic jams are a familiar sight in Venezuela's capital. Without a plan of action the Ministry of Transport and Communication has allowed the number of public transport routes and the number of vehicles runnin...

This is a collection of railway footage shot in Venezuela, mainly in the 1970's depicting various forms of motive power. Examples of Venezuelan Steam and Diesel traction are featured both standard and narrow gauge. Most of this material was shot in 16mm cine Film by the late Jaime Oliva Esteva. Jaime was a friend and fellow railway enthusiast who documented on film the Railways of Venezuela in the 1970's. Also featuring in this presentation, is video footage taken by Jaime's brother, Francisco Oliva Esteva of the mineral railways in Venezuela. To round it off, I have included my own video footage of examples of Venezuelan locomotives at El Encanto (3ft 6in Gauge) and El Consejo (2ft 6in Gauge) in the 1990s. We should be very grateful to Jaime for the work that he did recording the Venezu...
